Associations 101 is a one-day, in-person course providing a clear and practical introduction to how associations operate in New Zealand. It is designed for those new to association roles, supporting an association as part of a wider organisation, or looking to strengthen their understanding of governance, membership, events, professional development, and communications within the association environment.

The course covers the core building blocks of association management, including working with volunteer boards, membership models and engagement, event and professional development delivery, and effective communications. It focuses on how these elements work together in practice, drawing on real-world examples from New Zealand associations.

Participants will gain a stronger understanding of the association operating model, common challenges faced by association teams, and practical considerations that support sustainable and well-run organisations.

Format: One-day, in-person course
Who should attend: New association staff, secretariat teams, and professionals working closely with associations
