About NZSAE Learning Circles

NZSAE Learning Circles are small-group professional development sessions designed for those working in membership organisations. Each Circle focuses on a core domain of association management and creates a space to connect, learn, and share with others facing similar challenges.

Sessions begin with a 30-minute speaker presentation (recorded), followed by an off-the-record conversation among participants to share ideas, experiences, and practical approaches.

How this session works

  • 30-minute speaker presentation (recorded)
  • Facilitated peer kōrero (not recorded)
  • Practical, experience-led discussion
  • Designed for immediate, real-world application

This session: Data-Led Decision Making

Strong associations don’t rely on instinct alone. They use data to guide growth, inform strategy, and strengthen leadership confidence.

We are privileged to welcome Jennifer Kingen Kush, DES, former Vice President and Executive Director of the Digital Experience Institute at PCMA in Chicago. Jennifer led the strategy, mission, and global roadmap of one of the most recognised digital experience institutes in the international association sector. Now based on a Otago, New Zealand.

Jennifer will explore how New Zealand associations can better use data to:

  • Drive membership growth with clarity
  • Strengthen board-level decision-making
  • Understand member behaviour more deeply
  • Turn insight into practical action
  • Build a culture of confident, evidence-based leadership

Associations already hold valuable data. The real question is whether we are using it intentionally to shape our future.

Learning Circles rotation

This Learning Circle is part of NZSAE’s fixed-topic fortnightly rotation, giving you the chance to explore every key area of association practice throughout the year:
