Programme Director
Help shape a better future for tamariki and rangatahi in Aotearoa.
The Programme Director provides leadership to a values-driven membership organisation, collectively responsible for child health innovation, implementation, and the delivery of contracts that align with strategic direction, with a focus on medium- to long-term outcomes.
This role is pivotal in strengthening Te Tiriti o Waitangi–led practice, embedding equity, and championing Te Ao Māori across PSNZ systems, decision-making, and national programmes that impact tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau.
Working in close partnership with the President, Chair(s) of the Child and Youth Health National Clinical Network, Māori Director, Executive Team, and Clinical Network leaders, you will help shape meaningful, enduring change across the child and youth health system in Aotearoa.
About us
The Paediatric Society of New Zealand | Te Kāhui Mātai Arotamariki o Aotearoa (PSNZ) is a not-for-profit membership organisation that recognises the special health and developmental needs of tamariki and rangatahi. The Society’s purpose is to promote effective policies and practices that eliminate health inequities in Aotearoa and prioritise tamariki Māori.

Established in 1947, PSNZ has a long history in New Zealand. Membership includes nurses, medical practitioners, allied health professionals, managers, purchasers/commissioners, and public servants involved in child health policy. This multidisciplinary approach strengthens representation and diversity. Current membership includes approximately 700 individuals.
PSNZ is supported by an administration team and role-specific contractors who report to the Programme Director. The organisation operates across two core areas: membership services and the delivery of funded contracts.
Several Special Interest Groups (SIGs) informally network to promote health improvement for tamariki and rangatahi and influence national policy. Clinical Networks and SIGs partner with key stakeholders, including whānau with lived experience, to deliver contracts, promote best practice, provide health professional education, and contribute to submissions and policy change.
