New Zealand Society of Association Executives Inc — NZSAE
Flexible location within New Zealand | Preference for Auckland or Wellington
Part-time role — hours to be discussed

A varied part-time role supporting New Zealand’s association sector

NZSAE is the association for associations in New Zealand. We support membership organisations through professional development, networking, events, resources, and sector leadership.

As NZSAE continues to grow, we are looking for a practical, organised, and reliable Administration and Operations Officer to support the day-to-day running of the organisation.

This is a hands-on and varied role, working closely with the Executive Director across administration, finance support, membership services, database management, event support, and general operations. It would suit someone who enjoys getting things done, is comfortable working across multiple systems, and understands the importance of good member service.

About the role

In this role, you will support the smooth operational running of NZSAE, including:

  • day-to-day administration and office support
  • Xero invoicing, payment tracking, and basic finance administration
  • membership applications, renewals, and member enquiries
  • maintaining accurate member and contact records within our database
  • event registrations, attendee lists, name badges, and event administration
  • support for webinars, meetings, conferences, and other NZSAE activities
  • basic marketing and event material preparation, including social media graphics where required

This is a role where no two weeks will be exactly the same. At times, the work will be steady and process-driven; at other times, particularly around events, it will require flexibility, calmness, and the ability to work to deadlines.

About you

We are looking for someone who is professional, approachable, well organised, and confident working independently.

You will bring:

  • strong administration and organisational skills
  • excellent attention to detail
  • confidence using Microsoft Office and online systems
  • experience with Xero or finance administration
  • the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • strong interpersonal and customer/member service skills
  • a practical, hands-on approach

Experience working with a membership organisation, association, professional body, or similar member-based organisation in New Zealand is strongly preferred.

Eligibility to apply

Applicants must currently be based in New Zealand and have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

NZSAE is not an accredited employer for this role and is unable to support visa applications, visa transfers, or offshore applications.

Why join NZSAE?

This is an opportunity to be part of a growing organisation that is helping strengthen associations and membership organisations across New Zealand.

You will work closely with the Executive Director and have real involvement across the organisation’s operations, member services, events, and sector activities.

This role may appeal to someone who has worked in or alongside a membership organisation and is looking for a flexible, part-time role where they can make a practical contribution.

Recruitment process

Applications will be received directly by NZSAE. The recruitment process will be independently supported and reviewed by McLaren Recruitment, providing an external and objective review as part of the shortlisting process.

How to apply

Please send your CV and a short cover letter outlining your relevant experience to:
