Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Association. The role is responsible for delivering the Association’s vision, supporting members, leading industry engagement, overseeing advocacy and standards-related activity, and ensuring the organisation continues to be a trusted and influential voice in the built environment. The successful candidate will be commercially astute, highly credible with stakeholders, and capable of leading a small organisation with clarity, energy and purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of the Association’s strategy, priorities and annual work programme.
  • Build strong relationships with members, the Board, regulators, industry bodies and key external stakeholders.
  • Represent the Association as a credible and influential voice for the window, door and glass industry.
  • Support the development and promotion of technical standards, industry guidance and compliance initiatives.
  • Drive membership value, engagement and growth through relevant programmes, services and communication.
  • Oversee the financial, operational and governance performance of the organisation.
  • Lead a small team and external partners to deliver high-quality outcomes for members and the wider sector.
  • Identify emerging industry issues and opportunities, and translate them into practical strategic action.
  • Stakeholder engagement leading to growth of the membership, currently 430 businesses and related suppliers, and sustainability of the organisation in areas such as succession planning and digital enhancement.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven senior executive leadership experience, ideally in a membership organisation, industry association, not-for-profit or relevant commercial sector.
  • Proven strategic capability, with the confidence to deliver a national plan based around advocacy, lobbying and being the voice of the membership with government and council.
  • Experience working with a Board and confidence operating in a governance-led environment.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, planning and organisational performance oversight.
  • An understanding of the New Zealand building, manufacturing, construction, or related industry environment would be advantageous.
  • Develop relationships with peer associations including Master Joiners, Master Builders, Certified Builders and the Australian Glass and Window Association.
  • A keen interest in the use of technology and emerging AI tools for the betterment of the industry.

This is an opportunity to lead a respected national association that plays an important role in shaping standards, capability and confidence across the window, door and glass industry. You will be at the centre of industry collaboration, helping members respond to changing market, regulatory and technical demands while contributing to a better built environment for New Zealand.
